Great clinic today. Thanks for the help on fixing my jerk. Obviously it'll take a while, and I think I'll do power jerks until I get weightlifting shoes (hopefully Patty sends that order soon). Split jerking barefoot or with flimsy shoes really doesn't work well.

Just to say thanks for the clinic, was good to spend a large chunk of time on one specific thing, put me down for the snatch one on Oct 4th as well :)

One comment I will make though, might be easier if at the very beginning of the class you get everyone to get a dowel and bar to keep for the whole clinic, and not get them and put them away several times (just because I feel like it's wasted time). Other than that it was cool :)

Kelly,

Thank-you for putting the C&J clinic together this past Saturday, and for coaching it! I found it to be extremely valuable and I was surprised at how quickly the four hours flew by. Breaking down each movement was very effective and allowed me to focus on the essential pieces that make-up a clean & jerk, one by one. I particularly liked how you suggested that we pick 1-2 things to focus on for each movement. For example, hip extension in the clean, or locking-out our arms in the jerk.

I have to say, that as a beginner, I was initially apprehensive about attending this clinic. Mostly because I felt that I wasn’t strong enough or that it was for people who were at a higher fitness level than myself (hardcore Crossfiter’s). I’m glad I was proven totally wrong! Instead, I found this clinic to be that much more effective as a beginner because I could learn good habits from the get-go, as opposed to breaking bad habits that I may have already developed.

I even received a “good form” compliment from Brad yesterday when I was doing my push jerks for “Lucky 7’s”, which reinforces the effectiveness of what I learned this past Saturday! Wohoo!

Thanks again to you and Amy for the hard work you put into the O-lifting clinics, and for your consistent encouragement! You’ll be seeing me at the rest of the clinics you are offering over the next few months. J

Enjoy your week!

M.

PS. Pls sign me up for:

· Oct 4th – Snatch Clinic

· Oct 25th – C&J II

· Nov 1st – Snatch II
