Very true Rosita, but it becomes the least of evils on the spectrum of evils. If you buy it from the deli counter rather than the pre-packaged versions the nitrites are pretty minimal. In an ideal world you would be killing your own meat and roasting it yourself, but the use of deli meats makes it more managable for the average person.

What kind of glutamine are you drinking zola? I just get plain glutamine that really has no taste to it at all, and ya I just mix it in water. If you want something to distract the "flavor" try adding sliced cucumbers to the water. Its rather refreshing!

As for the kinds Sakura, anything pharmaceutical grade will be good (they should it pretty cheap at walmart). Just make sure you get straight glutamine and not one of the kinds with artificial flavors and crap mixed in.

p.s. any recommendations on glutamine? brands, stores to get it? i could easily go to walmart but i figure like everything else (fish oils) you have to be careful with which brands you buy.

AWeSoMe! Thanks for the tips. Never really thought about asking the deli to help me out. So far so good. This morning I scrambled up some eggs with spinach and took coffee and nuts along with on the way to class. Had some steak and broccoli and cooked up some chicken breasts, more broccoli and spinach for the rest of the day and tomorrow. I need to stock up on greens but will attempt to do that tomorrow at the Farmer's Market in Concord.

I am not sure if this is the place to post a question but I am wondering about the use of Protein Powders. This 14-day challenge sounds great. I have "tried" to incorporate most of this into my daily diet anyway. Usually however in the morning I get up and drink a protein shake with about 24g of Whey, milk, yogurt, instant oatmeal and a banana. I work out one to two times a day usually at lunch and/or after work. After these workouts I drink a protein shake of about 24g Whey and milk. Sometimes I through a banana and/or yogurt in there. At night I drink a shake with 24g Casein and milk. As I don't want to consume too many calories, I may change the recipe based off what I had earlier in the day or skip the shake totally. In between all this I snack on nuts and fruits and eat meals with lean meats and greens. I don't count calories. I do mostly CrossFit type workouts with the occasional distance run. I don't follow a strict zone or paleo diet as sometimes for me it's not realistic. I am happy with my physique and gains in the gym, but am always curious if I could be leaner or gain more. Are the added protein shakes hurting or helping me.

Sorry for the long comment and thanks for taking the time to read it.
